Her writing is unmatched, and her prose transports the reader back into a romantic era. It will induce laughter and tears and visions of the most beautiful frontier. This is a must-read for any chicken-lover or homestead hopeful. I spent many hours on a lawn chair at our old, suburban house, reading this book with our happy girls clucking around me.
Rubber Boots
4 years into chicken keeping, and I only just finally got a pair of rubber boots for chicken care. Up until now, I was using boots & shoes for other outdoor purposes, too. It worked alright, but always ended up with me tracking chicken poop in areas we don’t necessarily want it. A dedicated set of chicken-care rubber boots are a game changer. Honestly, is it even a chicken themed gifts list without a reference to tiny raptors? I mean, it’s only fair that passers by be warned of the mini-dino family that lurks just beyond.

Have you guys tried one of these yet? I get people sending me pictures of leashed-chickens all the time, I can’t believe I still haven’t bought one of these!
