Ikea RENLIG Review

This is an unaffiliated, unbiased Ikea RENLIG review of the box store’s dishwasher. Don’t forget to check out our all-inclusive Ikea SEKTION review for more kitchen details.

Ikea RENLIG Review

I can’t be the only one who felt extremely apprehensive about buying an appliance from Ikea. While most of us are a bit nervous about these kinds of purchases from the big blue box, I wish I’d known then what I do now. There wasn’t really an all-inclusive Ikea RENLIG review at the time, but if there was, I wouldn’t have been so anxious. Here are a few reasons why buying an Ikea dishwasher might make more sense than you initially think.

Ikea RENLIG Review is Actually Made By Whirlpool

Ikea’s dishwashers are all actually manufactured by Whirlpool. For some people, this might put your mind at ease. For others, who may have had bad experiences with Whirlpool products, this might be a turn off. But this Ikea RENLIG review isn’t here to bash the product. Even if it were, Ikea’s dishwashers come with a 5-year warranty, which is much more than Whirlpool’s standard 1-year warranty. I’ve read a lot of horror stories about Whirlpool products, but our experience has been wonderful. It’s possible that the Ikea Whirlpool dishwashers are actually designed to last, and the strong warranty is evidence.

Noise & Cycle Time

This is our first time having the luxury of a dishwasher in our adult lives, so we don’t have much to compare it to. However, the noise doesn’t bother us at all. Keep in mind, this Ikea RENLIG review is based off of a model in our kitchen, which is probably 20 ft from the nearest bedroom. All the same, the noise has never bothered us. This article cites Consumer Reports Ikea dishwashers operating at 48-55 dB, slightly below the average dishwasher. As far as cycle times go, the Ikea RENLIG dishwasher actually has one of the the shortest cycle times at 115 minutes. I just plan around our dishwasher taking 3 hours, which isn’t bad at all.

Cleaning Quality of Ikea RENLIG Review

As a kid, I would pretty much just throw full plates of food in the dishwasher. It drove my parents crazy, and I never totally broke the habit. I can, in fact, be bothered to rinse dishes off before loading now, but I’m still far from thorough. The fact that our RENLIG dishwasher handles it like such a champ is a testament to its cleaning quality. I can count on my hands the number of times we’ve had to re-wash a dish, and we’ve had our dishwasher for two years. (This is when food is really caked on.) If you’re wondering about cleaning power behind this Ikea RENLIG review, wonder no more. So far, it outperforms even my parents’ fancier, far pricier model.

Aesthetics & Design

Affordable Panel Ready Dishwasher

There are a few major design perks in this Ikea RENLIG review that can’t go without mentioning. While I was apprehensive about ordering a dishwasher from Ikea, I was desperate for the affordable panel ready dishwasher design. By choosing a panel ready dishwasher, we don’t have to have a stainless steel appliance breaking up the continuity of our lower cabinets. This is one way to get a much higher-end looking kitchen without paying the custom cabinet price tag.

Hidden Buttons & Touch Controls

I didn’t think I’d love this perk as much as I do. A few of the lower-priced RENLIG models don’t feature top-mount controls, but the panel ready version does. Because the controls are situated on the top of the dishwasher door, they’re never visible when the unit is closed. This is yet another design feature that puts the panel ready Ikea RENLIG review on top. While the panel ready version will run you a few hundred dollars more than lower-end models, the design is top notch. The touch controls make starting the dishwasher more enjoyable, and cleaning is a breeze. No cracks & crevices to have to clean out make for a happy kitchen master.

Ikea RENLIG Review in Summary

All in all, we are way more than just “satisfied” with our Ikea RENLIG dishwasher. The warranty alone is enough to justify purchasing again for the next house. My only complaint in this Ikea RENLIG review is that it could use a little more room. What dishwasher couldn’t, right? In the next house, we would like to have two dishwashers to help out when we entertain. If we purchase a larger dishwasher as the primary, I could definitely see buying another another RENLIG to supplement. Ikea no longer offers the exact model we purchased in this Ikea RENLIG review, but this is the closest model they offer now. The price is about the same, but it now features a third, top rack for cutlery. Score!!
